Pervasive game Spring line-up

30 Mar

Following on from my last post defining what we mean by pervasive gaming, there seems to be an awful (rather, ‘brilliant’) lot of activity in this area currently, so I thought I would document them here:

Shunt Money – the underground theatre / music / entertainment venue came back from its promised demise to not only re-open its London bridge space but also an immersive theatre experience in a warehouse just down the road. And it’s very good – we’re not the only ones to think so obviously, the run’s been extended til June.

Delirium are running an ‘immersive theatre’  experience in the Old Vic tunnels called Your Nation Loves You. Don’t know much about it yet apart from what can be gleaned from the supporting website the Department of Data Protection (password can be anything to get through, not sure if a specific password will get you more detail).

Hide and Seek – run monthly sandpits to test new games, as discussed previously on this blog, but last Friday night they ran  their biggest event yet. The V&A was taken over by more than a dozen games, from a treasure hunt around Victorian London to a giant game of pass the parcel.

Fire Hazard have been doing lots recently, including a run your own Heist experience and regular and massively over-subscribed post-apocalyptic glow-in-the-dark wide games. Their game this weekend is a bit different though, Easter Egg Hunt(ed) on Hampstead Heath is a traditional egg hunt with a twist – as well as the good bunny, there’s a bad one too that’s going to take all your eggs away!

Finally, we have a couple of things in development ourselves. The first is for a best-selling thriller writer from the same publishing house as Stephen King as a development of the approach to . We’re going to be bringing the characters from his latest book  to life across social media in mid-April, and we have a feeling they may need a hand with a few things…

And then there’s a longer term project in conjunction with Winterwell again starting in May, starting small locally, running through the summer festival and then working towards a big event next winter.

Further to this brief round-up I have the noble intention of starting an ongoing calendar of them. Time permitting. So if you’ve got any more to add in, now or in the future, let us know…
